and oem clutch should last the life of the car unless you abuse it.

anyway, you don't have to replace it unless it starts slipping.

slipping usually happens when you get on the gas and the engine revs, but the car doesn't move in sync with the engine. Its almost like having the car in neutral and accelerating you feel very little forward motion.

The easy way to tell is to be driving up a hill and rest your foot on the clutch pedal. The less effort it takes for the clutch to slip the worse shape your clutch is in.

I bought my xb brand new. I put 95,000 miles on it so far, atleast half of it is canyon racing, I beat on my car a lot. At 85,000 I upgraded the clutch and flywheel cuz it barely started to feel like slippage. Turns out the clutch disk was fine, but the pressure plate barely held the clutch in place. The pressure plate on Toyotas are garbage. To get back on topic, 100,000 - 150,000 should be about right if you don't dump the clutch like a mad man.

You reminded me, when I took out the clutch, the Throw Out Bearing was trashed. The throwout bearing looked like it went out long time ago. That could be your problem.

Most aftermarket clutches come with a new throwout bearing.

Are you doing a lot of high RPM shifting?? Sitting in traffic with the clutch in?? Just wondering why the throwout bearing is going . . . heavy use or racing??
