Default Greddy turbo kit downpipe

Hey guys,

I have been preparing to put my GReddy Turbo kit in my xA and I have been very confused about something.

I know that the Stock and even aftermarket exhaust headers for the xA and xB are exactly the same.

I have taken a look at the downpipe on my turbokit, which is a GReddy Scion xB turbo kit, and the flange on the downpipe doesn't look like it will line up with my stock exhaust flange.

The downpipe is not modified at all. After reading through the instructions on the xB turbo kit it says to simply just bolt the downpipe to the stock exhaust using the included gasket.

I know that there are several people on here with xA's that run the GReddy xB turbo kit, have any of you needed to make any changes to the downpipe to get these two to mate correctly?

Yes, the exhaust flange does not match up to the downpipe on both the xA and xB because the greddy turbo kit is a JDM kit.

I had a shop do it for me and they had to do some cutting on the piping to make it fit. They also had to cut about an inch off the throttle body section of the charge pipe to keep it from rubbing against the hood but just put it on first and see if you have that problem before cutting.

Also, I have an engine damper because without it, the turbo sits so close to the firewall that it will hit it and it made a clinky noise when I engaged the clutch during shifts.

It looks like you have a '05 xA. I have an '06 xA and needed a wiring harness with the emanage since the pin configuration changed. I think you are okay with the '05 though.

Hope this helps.

Would you recommend having the downpipe modified or having the stock exhaust modified?

I have the Ingalls ETD for manageing engine movement and I will also be running a fully tuned eManage Ultimate instead of eManage Blue.

I was running the stock exhaust for a few months and the good part about it was that the car was quieter but you are correct, the spool took forever. I later put in a 2.5inch custom exhaust from the downpipe back through a higher flow cat with no resonator and the spool is great now. The thing I find annoying is that the car is so much louder now. I think I might get a chambered muffler to quiet it down. The stock boost with the kit was around 5psi but for some reason, once I put in the 2.5in exhaust, the boost automatically went up to 6.5psi. It feels good to drive it now. I just haven't decided what to do with the intercooler situation since the kit doesn't come with an intercooler, not sure if I have time or money to install one right now.

I am running 2.5" exhaust on mine and its badass you can hear the spool and it opens things up very nicely and has a great tone.
