Default headers gasket

i got dc sport headers i am wanting to put on but i want to get another gasket incase i rip the old on on the engine block. so i was wondering if i could just go to a toyota dealer and get a gasket or do they make a certain on that i will have to get from the scion dealer.

thanks

Yes you can go to the dealership and buy a new gasket for your header. Unless you do it on purpose you won't rip your old one.

just go to any toyota service center with a parts counter. they should be able to order scion parts even if they don't directly sell scion vehicles in their dealership. ask for xB manifold gaskets. they have a software that let's them visually see what part you are talking about.

i got totally new gaskets when i installed my header, both the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. ran me 54 bucks, which is worth it i think. they probably won't have any in stock, so expect to wait a couple days for them to arrive.

I haven't had any problems with my donut (spelling?) gasket. I swapped the old one (11k miles) onto the new header. With that being said, if it would have crossed my mind when I got the manifold gasket then I would have picked up a new donut gasket as well.

evosky--why did you replace your intake gasket when you installed headers?

i replaced both gaskets when i went to install just to be safe. whenever you're dealing with these gasket parts, esp with the hot manifold area, they are subject to warping and cracking/ripping. also, my box had 32k on it when i installed the header, thus it was worth my money to replace them. plus, many on here highly recommend that you replace both. the material they're made out of are meant only to be installed once or something like that.

to be safe, i highly suggest just getting the replacing the two gaskets. only 50 bucks, worth it in the long run...

I think I've got you now evosky. You actually replaced the exhaust manifold gasket and the donut gasket down at the collector, right? Not the intake gasket, which is totally unrrelated to the exhaust/header.

Yup, I'd agree that replacing both manifold gasket and donut gasket is recommended/preferred. Like I said earlier, the only reason that I didn't replace the donut gasket is because my dummy self forgot about it.

Good deal, just wanted to make sure that I didn't totally miss something and my xA wasn't going to self destruct in 15 seconds or anything.
