New to TC and supercharging
Hi,
I'm about to get a 2008 TC that will be my daily driver. I will be putting alot of miles on it daily due to my commute. So reliability is my main concern, but I do want to make the car as fun and quick as I can.
I just sold my highly modified Porsche 944 Turbo so I'm pretty familier with the basics of tuning cars. That car was very easy to make big increases in power with bolt-on stuff. My goal is to get the TC to put down a reliable 200-250 at the wheels. Hopefully enough to get it somewhere in the 14s. Basically just a quick little car, not a high-strung, unreliable race car.
I was planning on eventually getting the TRD supercharger and exhaust. Will that and a few other simple bolt ons get me to those power levels?
Thanks for the help!

Funny, I made the same trade off, a 88 turbo 951, which I had highly modified as well (thanks huntley racing!)
The tC doesnt have the fun factor the 944 T does, (you know the powerslides, and unbelievable predictability) but I have the trd s/c, and pretty much everything else TRD makes, and it definatly brings it up a few levels with the s/c and suspension work.
with the s/c, the quickest cheapest mods are a forge 007 BPV (not blow off valve - like the 51 used) and a nst 9.5lb pulley, should put your right at 230, then if you get it tuned with a AEM or similar engine management, you should be right at 250hp. beyond that you have meth injection, and s/c cams.. thats pretty much all i can think off
the one other thing youll notice is your p951 would top at the 160mph mark, while the tC will stop under 130mph.

The TRD S/C should get you to ~200 BHP (at the crank, I think), or more. With the S/C it will be difficult in fitting an intake mod (CAI) since that area of the bay gets really cramped after install; but I'm sure it's been done before, somebody around probably has.
I just installed it in my friends '06 5-speed tC this weekend, and we were NOT dissapointed. Here's the thread I made for it:

the supercharger with a smaller boost pulley, and a catback exhaust should put you in the hp range you are looking for.
i dont suggest getting the TRD exhaust. it doesnt give you much power and it is expensive.

As far as I've known, there is no power gain in the TRD exhaust. Other back-axle exhausts claim some gain though, like the one @ TRDSparks.com, the Borla. TRDSparks claim a 5-6HP gain.
