from what i can see it looks like its pretty easy to take the motor out not having to worry about the radiator support getting in the way.........cant wait for my project to go underway.......

it's a said story, but atleast your xB will come back to life.
i'm thinking about doing a 1ZZFE swap and from what i've heard it's rather easy to do so. so if you're still in the area of swaping, that option is freely available and theres lots of parts out there for it too. wouldn't be hurting mileage hardly at all either.

do a 1zzfe swap and good luck adding ANYTHING to the car.
some guy did that in an echo and even had to put the damn battery in the trunk just to fit the motor...
so while it may be quicker out of the box, you wont be adding much more to it unless your going all motor w/ high compression.

just wondering though... you said that you saw the 2AZFE in the engine bay... not bolted but hung and it was fitting?
if thats so, the use a 1AZFSE would come to mind in a way... slightly smaller, but it makes more power. about 145-150hp @ 6000rpm and about 145lbs torque at 4000rpm, 2.0L. also, something else that i've found, it would almost seem a 3SGTE from a gt-four and gt-t would be possible to throw in there being from what i've read it's about the same size as the 2AZFE if you redo the intercooler from top mount to front mount.
from what i've heard about the 1ZZ is that it has to be a 1ZZ from a front wheel drive for example a celica GT. it can't be one from an MR2 because of spacing issues, the MR2 version is diffrent somehow and takes up ALOT of space when moved into the echo/bb/xB/ist/xA/yaris platform.
Hope to see the xB running again, Fusion!

got her running today. It was a real b!tch since i havent worked on many of these. Plus the state of disassembly it was in made for a lot of fun. But none the less your car is ready for you at anytime. Just tell sandy to call danny or i to let us know how and when you want to pick it up. I will be in nashville but i can come back to meet you all if you fly down to drive it back.
