I've hit 120 before backing off, I've been to 115 several times, So I'm pretty sure there is no Electronic Speed Limiter, now I can't say anything about drag.

assuming that there is a computer setting that restricts fuel i wonder if i can convince a Toyota/Scion mechanic to set it higher so that it wouldnt take so long for my xB to get to 115-120 faster hmmmmmmmmm

Its not a governer, its a computer setting and as you reach 110 mph, your cars computer will simply restrick the flow of fuel so as not to exceed the set speed. They said if you have someone who has an XB that is going 124 mph, someone has altered the settings.
i have not altered any settings. theyre mis-informed.

all i have is intake , header , exhaust , iridiums , ground wire kit , and engine damper. and I did every piece of work myself. no altered settings here.

I wonder if there is a difference with auto or manual trans? Mine is an auto and when you get to 110, that appears to be it.

Manual trans with tires larger than stock could make a diff.

Sounds like another call to toyota for info.

That's a good possibility. Manual Transmissions have a lower gearing, and could possibly give the engine more room to stretch its proverbial legs. Or would it be the other way around???

hrmm... maybe i didn't do it right... but I was on the highway... LONG FLAT STRETCH. I had it in 5th at about 80, and decieded to push it (probably should have downshifted, but didn't),.... I am NOT even joking, but with the wind at my back, it took OVER 10 MINUTES to go from 80 to 100... needle hit and stopped at 100... backed off after about a min.... Car was already broken in too... had about 7,000 miles on it by that point... now it is at 25,000.

The reason I started this thread was I meet up with a mystery XB on the 417 here in Orlando when we both had just left the toll plaza. We were both doing around 60 and both punched it. Don't know what he (or she) had under the hood, but I have CAI, headers, dual exhaust and a Blits SC. We both accel'd to 110 very quikly and that was it. We were both at each others doors and could not go any faster. I still had lots of tach left, so I knew it wasn't the rev limiter. I was just currious if there was a speed limiter that kept the Xb from going any fast.

Be cool to find out who the mystery XB was and what's thier story. I was not able to pull past them and out accel him. It was night and best I could tell it was a camo xb with darker wheels and heavy tint.

Still not sure about the answer about a speed limiter either.

1. you hit a twig your dead
2. you drive a box
3. if you dont hit a twig, refer to #2

I don't have any positive info, but I really think the 'speed limiter' is basically a tiny engine in a vehicle shaped like a UPS delivery truck... :D

i can get up to 110 pretty easily too but its kind of scary feels like the wind is going to flip me over i can feel all kinds of pushing and pulling from the sides.

i wouldnt wanna test the limits of the car 125 is insane in a box a sharp burst of wind on a curve and they identify you by your teeth after they pull them out of a telephone pole.

That race with the other Xb was the only time I've been that fast in my ride and don't plan on making it a habbit, but when you are just driving along minding your biz and some other xb pulls up and whats to see what your packin, ____ happens. I definately don't like street racing and the dangers it causes and things like that should be taken to the track where it belongs and can be done safely. I was a bad boy for racing in the first place on the interstate, and will "try" not to let it happen again.....haha

Itsme, if you make it to central florida in april, we are having a big scion car show and swap meet at Old Town in Kissimmee (near Orlando). Please come by and check it out.
