**Question**More power from the car (Electrical)
I'm looking at building my system, however before I do it I'm looking to add a battery or rewind/change the alternator, so that I don't burn the alternator up. I believe that rewinding the alternator would give me more power, but I was wondering what the benifits of adding a second battery (probably yellow or blue top). I know there are people here that are more knowledgable of electricity, so let me have your advise.. Thanks
I doubt you need to upgrade the alternator yet unless you have a huge SPL system
A second battery would help a lot. I'm running 2 deep cycle optima yellow tops. 1 in the hood, and 1 in the back of the car.
They are seperated by a battery isolator (basically a 200 amp relay) so that when the engine is not running, they are disconnected, and thus preventing the batteries from draining each other down.
Depending on the amperage used, you could probably just get away with a single deep cycle yellow top under the hood.

Thanks again!. I'm looking at putting about 600-800 watts over what the alternator puts out (I'm not sure what the amps are)... I don't have any solid numbers because I'm parting out my current system and building a better one from scratch.. I'll keep you updated on it, and let you know more numbers as they come along.. and yes, it will be huge.. but I don't know how huge quite yet..
