Toyotaisme -- what is that part number for? the harness?

 

Turns out that is the number for the cable, not the harness. I just Googled the part # and found these two threads...both on SL!

Hopefully Scion will figure out that they can sell the harness and make some more $$.

 

Yeah, I saw both those threads too, but the guy who keeps mentioning that part number never mentions the fact that you still need an 06 harness - he made it sound like this cable thing was all you needed to make it work. rarrr

 

Aggh! Whats the deal. I'm the guy who allready has an '06 iPod HU in an '05 xB, but it doesnt work. My dealer told me from day one that it would, at that was over 5 months ago now. They finally gave up and installed the "Peripheral" brand iPod connecter and let it go. I'm with r0cky, I think this part # is just for some cable, not the whole shebang. There is something else missing that needs to be run from the back of the HU to the console under the e-brake, besides the main harness. I have the iPod jack and another cable, but thats not long enough by any means to reach the back of the HU from down that low. Anyway, keep us posted.

 

Okay, another member here who sells Scion stuff has been helping me out looking up part numbers and such, and it still seems like there are no part numbers for the harness, and anyone wanting to use the ipod HU with an 05 has to build their own harness.

The guy also checked that part number for me and said it is just for a cable that already comes with the head unit. So no, it isn't the magic part that we had hoped, and I'm not sure why the original poster in the thread said it was all we would need - that is not the case, as we are still left with needing an 06 harness.

 

ATTENTION STEREO FABRICATORS: $$$-making opportunity here. Build it and they (we) will come and buy.
