08 Premium stereo in 06 xB, Aux input wont work (FIXED!!!!)
well, i put the 08 head unit in my 06.5 xB and now the aux wont work. Is there anythign thay could be messed up? is there a inline fuse? i check all the plugs like 10 times. Any ideas?
I just got my aux input to work. I went to the dealer and had them pull the wiring diagram for the 06 and 08 xB. The Aux in-outs where the same except the 08 had one extra wire called aux ground. Not to fix this here is what you do.
FInd the plug in the back of the radio that controls the aux input ( it lso controls the steering wheels controls) it has a grey shielded wire, red, white, black, purple, and the steering wheel control wires if you have them.
go to radio shack and buy a package of 1k ohm 1/4 watt 5% tolrtance resistors. These just look like a singel wire with a little ceramic thing in the middle.
Now take one of these and bent it into a U shape. From the back side of the plug ( it can be leftin the radio if you turn it off) put one end in the same spot as the red wire. ( pin location 19 i think) and put the other end in the empty spot
next to the white wire ( pin location 14). Not if this is making contact, with the radio turned on, hit the aux button and it should come on. it now will come on even if nothing is plugged into it as well.
There is the fix, hope you all enjoy. if someone take ics of the back of a radio , and can lable where the parts go

I'm running the same set-up as you in my 06.5 and have the same problem with my aux plug(iPod plug is fine btw). My previous head unit was the '06 iPod premium head unit and I'm using all the cables from that.
Anybody have an idea?
It's not a big deal at the moment but who knows if I'll still be using an iPod years from now.

Some other people have noticed this too in this post: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...=asc&&start=80
My guess is that while scion kept the same harness, they switched the wires in the harness for the 08's and are thus incompatible with the 04-06 vehicles. Maybe you can remove the wires from the harness and move them to their correct location for the 08 HU.

Question:
Does the Aux input cable connecting to the rear of the head unit use the connector on the far left (looking at the rear) (20 pinconnector) or the second connector from the left (12 pin) ?

I tried the resistor mod and it didn't change anything, no idea why since I followed the directions to the letter.

I am wondering now if the cable from the head unit on the earlier 06 and 06.5 are even different. Most that have tried the resistor fix say it work, yet no iPod setup working. For you the resistor doesn't work, yet your iPod setup works! LOL

Got mine all setup and both aux-input and iPod connector are working. See the other thread on this same topic!
