Default 1st audio upgrade - advice on my selections

Howdy. First post. Just got my FM tC and really like it, but I hate the factory radio. Interface bugs me more than SQ.

Anyway, I'm looking at the Pioneer 6700MP

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Ky4qdXA...c=01&g=300#Top

and the CDT CL-61's

http://www.cdtaudio.com/classic2000MidDriv.htm (the $299 ones)

What do you think? Will the pioneer deck be sufficient to power the speakers? Don't want to add an amp if I can help it.

I'm not looking for BOOM, just a fuller sound.

Thanks!

have rally no clue on the speakers but on the headunit just add $50 and grab the Pioneer DEH-P7700MP for the cool factor.

IMO I would change the radio 1st and add a sub after then speakers.

hope this helps,

Add an amp and use stock headunit. You won't fully enjoy CDT's if you starve them with the power that pioneer HU provides. CDT's are great speakers for the price by the way, good choice.

That is a nice deck. Probably not enough to get the best sound out of the components. I would look at getting a seperate amp to run the components.

if you change the head unit be smart and add the RCAs and remote wire and run those wires, saves you the step later on if ur gonna add subs

Good tip, Reign_man....I'll do it.

The $299 deal @ crutchfield for the Alpine 9833 was too good a deal to pass up, so I ordered that instead of the Pioneer.

Would the V-drive amp in the Alpine be enough to drive the CDT's?

it would be ok....but for optimum performance in any components, amp them...

Head unit arrives tomorrow - I'm attempting the install myself - yikes - and I think I'll see how the stockers sound before ordering the CDT's.
