6.5" vs 5.25" components in an xB
So I'm looking at Crutchfield since they seem to be one of the good places people shop at. There are only a couple 6.5" component sets that they say fit my car, and I'm not so sure about one of them (the Kenwood P605ie). Of course, you can make anything fit if you completely rip things up, but I want the easiest install.
If I switch out the stock 6.5"s for a set of nice 5.25" components (this is assuming a new HU and amp, at least a new HU), am I going to lose a lot of bass? I'm not sure I'll be getting a sub right away... like I said, I'm probably going to be doing this myself for the challenge so I don't want something that's going to take serious chopping up.
In the same vein, does anyone know if there's anything particularly strange about installing the Elemental Designs 6000s components? I have my eye on them as well.

I am running a set of 6.5 components in my doors, and 5.25 components in the rear. Both went in without a whole lot of work. I had to make adaptor plates for the front out of MDF, but that wasnt a problem. I would go the same route if I did it again...
Hmm, so what's the big deal with 6.5"s that they aren't listed as fitting? Is it the depth of the speaker compared with the door?
I had 5.25's in my old car and I didn't dig them much. Not enough oomph but they were cheap coaxials.

Do you happen to have any pictures of your install?
This information would help me A TON... cause I want to have all my equipment sitting right here and ready to go in the weekend after my box gets here (less than 2 weeks).
my friend some how got 6x7's to fit in the rear, it sounds really good, i wish i would have waited, cause i have 5.25 in my rear and it isnt enough power, but it still sounds good, just not as good as my 6x7

I'm rather determined to get 6.5s front and rear
