Default Aftermarket Security Systems

Alright, after reading MANY threads about the poor performance/value of the dealer alarm system, I can't find mention of good specific aftermarket security systems. I would like as many features as possible, but I'm not too fond of the big LCD remotes. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

any DEI alarm--> Viper, Python, blah blah blah.... they are all great, and the only alarm that I will put in my car.

Alpine makes a nice little alarm, for the decent price tag. It features all the goodies window alarm for people who break the window, sensitivity can be adjusted so that the little things don't set the car off, has 3 options on the remote for added features such as keyless entry, trunk release, etc. Also, warns you via LED blinking if your car's alarm is going off. A nice little feature offered by a lot of LCD remote systems (Audiovox, etc.)

Just something you might want to check into.

i did a compustar 900something alarm with remote start. thing works great, i added an extra tilt sensor, shock sensor, siren inside the car, and also replaced the standard siren with a battery backup siren which has to be shut off with a key. i don't want some jerkoff trying to steal my stuff.

Am I missing something? Why is there such a price difference between Viper, Hornet and Python systems? For comparable remotestart/security rigs (Viper 560XV, Hornet 563T, Python 1600XP).. the prices range greatly... what am I missing?

The Hornet seems the cheapest, is it missing key features?

I used Hornet 563T

as compared to my friends viper alarm, they are almost identical. anything is better than the dealer alarm.
