I just got one of these 9833's. I got some discounts from crutchfield etc...

Man, it's sweet. I have to tweak the EQ obviously (man the stock speakers have midrange)... but i got the iPod interface and the sheer joy of having all my music in my car suddenly is amazing. And this thing has jiuice.

Of course, I spent the better part of the evening trying to figure out how to route cables behind the dash

haha. nice. Just think how much fun I'm going to have installing a full system in my xB.

Did you get the add-on power kit, or just use the factory power wire?

ITS HERE!!!!! woo hoo, I opened it all up and all looks good. I was a little shocked that the harness and adaptor wernt connected, though, you have to either crimp or solder, well since we have a soldering bench at work I took the harness and adaptor to work tonight and hooked it up the right way in my opinion! looks great I cant wait for some sunlight so I can rip open teh dash and get this baby in. I got the add on power set, so that will lake a little longer but it shouldnt be too bad. I will post pics of the install and such tomorow or friday

If you want to make the battery hookup easier, look at the top of the battery then straight back, right next to the big round thing on the firewall (that's the brake booster). There's a big rubber plug with wires coming out. Get a screwdriver, pry one side of it open, and shove your amp power line right through there. Works like a charm. Then swear profanely all night as you try to weave wires around behind the dash

One problem: it's hard to figure out how to freakin' change the EQ settings! I tried this morning and without the manual I was stuck. Arrghh.

Dude, i'm in the same boat as you. I ordered the CDA-9833 from crutchfield. I think it's the best descision i've made recently in where my money goes. As for the package, its not coming till monday WTF!!! its only like 30 minutes away, and theres still all day tomorrow! Damn Automated UPS Crap. But yah, i'm anxious, hopefully both of our installs will go quite well. Also, do you know if theres an included fuse by any chance?

I'll repost my success story.

well its in......Man what a whopper that was!! Everything went smppth as butter untill I got to runnig the amp + lines to the Battery, getting through the fire wall was a biznatch! I was being **** and didnt want to just bend the grommet out of the way so I ran them to the other side and snipped off one of the little nipples on the passenger side and ran them through there but it took way to long to get to that conclusion, but I will post pics here in a day or so when I get more free time to throw them up. Congrats on your purchase you will be happy, VERY HAPPY it sounds 10000000000000% better! and with my Basslink under the passenger seat, lets just say my wife now has a massaging chair so All in all the extra time it took me to get it in was worth it. Im very happy.

w00t, got mine installed a few minutes ago. Sounds really bad. as in... bad. I have to adjust the EQ settings. My Low's and Highs are too high and I cant hear any of my mids. I gotta make it so my stock speakers only shoot mid's.

Keep ya all posted.

hah, im doing the complete opposite order of steps. Now I can get it really loud (Past 25) without too much distortion. Is there any way to lower my low's on my stock speaker without sacraficing bass on my sub?? If I increase the lows, my stock speakers distort.

you should be able to adjust the fronts, rears, and the subs seperatly so you can drop the lows out of the F/R and leave them up in the Sub, If Im not mistaken thats what the crossover does

Out of curiousity, did everyone run the wire to the positive terminal to the battery or can you run it to the 12v on the steering column?

I'm ordering the parts to run mine to the battery... even though I don't think it's necessary, as I won't be using the onboard amp.

I ran the 12v directly to the battery, however I used the factory harness ground. IT WILL SUFFICE.

well If your not going to use the onboard amp then you dont need to run a line to the battery, I understood that is all that line is for. Is it not?
