Heres a link that you might get some of your questions answered: OEMVALUE.COM
That looks decent, but it's still $1,600. Not exactly cheap, but much more what I'm looking for. Too bad the OEM units are so cheesy looking - how come someone can't design one of these things to look good?

For anyone interested in a comparison between the Scion stock radio and the AVN2454, check out the following links (large pictures... 56K warning!!)

Also, the front of the AVN sticks out about 3/8" farther then the stock radio. I had to redrill the stock mounting plates to get the unit to set back far enough to get the door to closed, its still a tight fit but the door works fine.

The stock radio wiring plugs right in to the AVN and no mods to the wiring were required. I dont have a factory XM or Sub so that wasn't a factor. I know the AVN does NOT support the factory XM but it might(???) support the Sub.

How much time did it take you to install? Would a novice like me be able to do the install myself? Also, how hard is it to redrill the stock mounting plates?

It took a full day to do, but I wasn't in a rush. The stock power and speaker wires plug right in, no adapter is needed. Also, you need to splice into three additional wires, speed sensor, reverse (back-up) light, and parking brake indicator. It took me a while going over the schematics to figure where the best place to put the splices. The antenna is mounted just below the dash plastic, so far it's been working well. Redrilling the holes was no problem, just do the "measure-twice-cut-once" thing. If you have confidence in your abilities then go for it, otherwise leave it to a pro. It was MUCH easier to install than the Scion security was, but you still need to pull some of the interior panels off, route and connect wires, and secure things right so you don't get rattles.

Thanks :D The unit is an Eclipse AVN2454 and here's a LINK to they're site. There also a guy on this board that says he sells them at a good price, he goes buy the name "SmartAss". I'd include a link to his post if I knew how.

No. I believe the Eclipse 8454 is the only one that plays WMAs.

Grrr. I guess that means Kenwood for me, which sucks given how easy the Eclipse is to install comparatively.
