Default Anyone with door speakers mounted outside the grill?*UPDATE*

Anyone with door speakers mounted over the grill? If so i'd love to see some pics, or hear tips/advice. Mounted kinda like these, but instead in the doors:

(**Photo belongs to TJandBOXCARWILLIE**)

Looking to add these Pioneer speakers, hoping to mount them over the door grill.

Yellow speakers, yellow xB, just looks good in my minds eye.

I haven't yet but I am in the process of glassing all 4 of my doors. I am putting Boston Acoustic Pro 6.5's in all 4.

I say, if your determined, go for it!!

But , it may be more trouble than it is worth since there is quite a bit of space between the speaker face and the door panel.

I just figured to remove the stock speaker, cut out a circle in the grill just large enough to drop the magnet and cone into the grill, but still mount the speaker w/ the pioneer grill over the door grill cupped with a baffle:

Work?

Crossover's gonna be around 125hz, so i'm not too worried about low freqencies sounding like mush in the doors.

Ordered the speakers a couple days ago. Just waiting for them to arrive. I'll post up pics when i get them cuz i plan on installing them as soon as the UPS guy pulls up. My baffles arrive monday. Or at least my 6 3/4 for the pioneer rev's come, the 5 1/4 are on back order for the month, but i have placed a reservation. I mounted Pioneer Premier 3 way 5 1/4 speakers in the back like the pic posted at the beginning of the thread. They look VERY pimp and sound very crisp but the lows are mushy due to my lack there of a baffle at the moment, which will come soon enough. I'll post up pics soon. My car is still at the audio shop having a custom fitted enclosure built. (Going on almost 4 days now with little work done to it. The shop is busy busy.) Was going to take pictures today but i forgot my camera. I had been sitting around the house all day waiting for the UPS guy to bring me my 600hz bass blockers for my 4" pioneer speakers in the dash. Once he arrived i rushed out the door and headed over to the shop to finish installing the massive tweeters, forgeting my camera in the process, and also hoping to find progress with the enclosure....... only to be disappointed by my best friend---> Procrastination.
