Default APC Simulated HID

I got some Silverstars but was sold the wrong model by Kragen (damn they suck!), and they did not have the 9003 in stock. I was told they were not being made anymore.

I got some money back and a pair if SuperWhits by American Products Company (4000K simulated HID).

Then I find this topic during my search:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...company+lights

If I understand that right, APC HID lights are not legal? This has nothing to do with the Superwhite bulbs does it?

Any opinions on there bulbs? Only $24.95 for the two.

Those bulbs are just fine... They're no Silverstars, but they're just like any other "fake blue" bulbs. Cops shouldn't really mess with you for those. And I think the actual APC bulbs might say "street legal" on the package? I mean, you did get them at Kragen... If not, you still shouldn't have any problems.

I live in super strict So. Cal., and all my fronts are blue, with cleared out headlights, no cops have said anything. They look more for exhausts and racing mods.

Oh, and that thread is talking about real H.I.D. not simulated HID bulbs.

Sweet. They are rated the same (400k) as the SS, and I noticed they had a clear bulb instead of the tinted ones SS has. That got me thinking they would be whiter than the SS.

And yes, the package says "100% street legal".

If they don't have DOT approval and the associated "seal" they aren't technically legal in most states.

(if i remember correctly)

I am looking for a bulb that will not get me pulled over. I figure the less blue it is, the better.

My girl has APC headlight bulbs in her Civic.

They are so "white" you can barely tell them apart from stock. They are not blue enough to get you pulled over.
