Default Auto-Off Not working

Hi

I have an 06 XA and the scion site says it has auto-off.

I have tried it several ways and they still do not turn off by themselves.

what's up...they are advertising it..

Are you referring to the headlights? With my tC, as soon as I open the door after the car has been turned off, the headlights turn off. I'd ask the dealer...

Yep, they don't go off. Maybe it a mistake on their site, maybe the xa is not suppose to have it, but it say on their site

I don't believe xA's are equipped with that feature.

I know for my tC, they f'd up the security system I had installed... the auto-off was somehow wired to the hatch.

Try opening other doors and seeing if that triggers it.

If it does, you know there's something that needs to be re-wired.

If you got the security system, that could be it too (as it was in my case).

If it says it under the xA, it has it.

I think the xA has it, but the xB does not.

Go look at the features and specs on the website.

It clearly states the xA has auto-off halogen bulbs, but that the xB just has halogen bulbs.

Hey original poster...

Here's another test...

If you leave the key in the ignition with the car off, and your driver door open, does it beep?

I only ask because as I said, my features were wired to the hatch... and only with the hatch open did my car beep in this situation.

Might be another determinant that they wired something wrong...

Let me know.

Did you test out the things I gave you man?

Seriously, give those a try first.

See if opening another door (hatch, passenger) triggers the lights to go off... also see which door, if any, triggers the little alarm to beep when the key is left in the ignition.

1. What about when you leave your key in the ignition? Does it beep when any of the doors are open?

2. Do you have the scion security system?

So it makes a noise when you have the driver door opened with the key in the ignition?

Does it make a noise when you leave your lights on?

Anyone know if the xB has a noise if you leave your lights on?

See my guess is, all cars either have a noise to tell you that the lights were left on, or they'll go auto-off when you open the door so the noise would be moot anyways...

I'd take it into the dealer and inquire.

Look in your driver manual too, just to confirm. If it mentions auto-off in there, it likely has it.
