Default Bazooka sub sounds like garbage, why?

Greetings,
I just had the bazooka installed onto my tC from the dealer. At first it sounded great; however, after about twenty minutes of play it began to produce a "poping" sound. At first the sound would come and go, and then eventually remain for long periods of time. I know the speaker is not blown because the popping sound is not consistent.
Secondly, another sound appears. While riding around, with the radio off, a whistling sound starts coming from the sub. I pulled the car over, turned it off, but left the key in the on position, and it remained. I then turned the key completly off, and then restarted it and the sound was gone, as well as the popping sound from the speaker. WTF!!!
Dealer told me to bring it back, because it might be a lose connection. I am going Nukin Futs over this. Any advice/suggestions?

Check all the wiring and especially the ground, make sure the ground is attached to non painted metal surface.

There is a connector by the sub that is whiteish in color. Make sure the pins are firmly pushed into the connector from both sides and making good connections. I have seen this problem more than once and it usually does exactly what you describe. Most common offender is the black ground wire.

while i took the sub out of the box and the connectors to it were lose, in fact one of them had come off. So I crimped them down, and so far all is well. Thnx for all the info, hopefully the problem is solved.
