bypassing on a in-dash moniter
the new alpine like the iva d 900 uses a push button switch, don't remember the name but uses a push buton switch which the screen is turned on, the button is pushed or held or something which in turn allows the screen to show visual while moving. sucky way of doing things if you ask me since the screen is bad ___. they could have just used a parking brake ground like they all used too. but oh well that is why i like eclipse and clarion

When in doubt... ground it first...
It's more difficult to ruin something by grounding it first (even accidentally) since usually ground is the common, and if anything, you're (usually) creating a dead loop. That said though you can cause problems this way even...
The best way when you're not sure, and since it can vary from brand to brand, you can always check by hooking it up right first, then finding out with a DMM with respect to ground.
Putting power though to a wire that's supposed to be grounded is an awesome way to create fireworks....
But you really shouldn't defeat the safeties in the first place.. it's illegal in many states already, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a federal law on the books soon.

I install as a hobby and what you do is you do not ground it at the parkingbreak you find a seperate constant ground
unlike the parkingbreak which only acts as a ground when activated aka pulled up
Thanks
