Default Crossover placement...

Ok i think thats what the little things that come with your speakers are called, they look like mini amps ...

NE ways, i was wondering where people have put theirs in their xB, im about to install components and was wondering where to place them, without ALOT of modifications/customizing...

Please post pics!

mine are behind the kick panels. mine are not as pretty as your crossovers so I didn't want to show them off.

Conventional wisdom says to avoid to put them in the door unless the crossovers are waterproof.

Mine are behind the kick panels also.

I also agree not to put them in the doors.

I also agree with avoiding putting the crossovers in the doors if at all possible. Either the kicks, secured in the dash, or under a seat. Some people put them with their amps in the back, but that's a lot of wire to run.

I would keep them near the amps for more flexibility in the future ,whether you are going to go active or not, that way you aren't doing it over again, again.

The average person will never bi-amp a set of components. If they decide to go to competition level they'll probably want to replace everything anyway. Putting the crossovers in the rear just means double the wire and double the chance for noise to be picked up.

Sorry for the suggestion, I guess I shouldn't be posting on your site.

What components are you using? Are you going for SPL or SQ?
If you want SQ I will suggest some foam baffles in the door with polyfill. this also will protect your speakers from water and will reduce the vibrations in the door.

I guess not if you can't handle a little rebuttle. People ask for advice on this site all the time. Some of it's good and some of it's bad. We all post what we think will help and it's up to the person to take all of it in and decide what's best for his or her situation. Your advice is good but I think most would agree that configuring the system that way is only necessary for a high level competition system or all out show car. Most competition systems I've seen don't bi-amp the mids and highs. The crossovers in component systems do their job very well and tuning two amps to get the mids and highs just right is a royal pain.
