Default DEI remote window module problem

Hey guys I just got a remote window module installed in my tC along with a Viper 791 XV everything's great however my windows constantly need to be reset and I think that it needs to be wired straight to the window motor, does anybody have instructions or pics of their install?

where did they wire the window module to? it should be wired between the switch and motor. also check the ground of the window module. if you have a bad ground it will cause probles with the window operation.

Also need to check the jumpers. When we put the modules in my xB we had a hard time setting the resistance and the back windows would stop, or need to be reset.

You should put a call in to DEI, the guys there are pretty cool and really helpful. They didn't have any info when I did mine, but they should by now.

I think this is where they wired it, however because the tC has all auto windows I think it needs to be wired straight to the motor. I have an appointment with my installer next week. I'll let you guys know how it goes thanks for the input.

It's important that the wires be connected directly to the motors to insure you don't have problems like these. To save time, some installers will wire the module to the driver switch and leave the module in the door (gasp).
For best results, the wires should be run into each door so they don't screw up the auto window feature. I have never installed a DEI module so I can advise you as to wiring specifically. It never ceases to amaze me how installers always have time to do the job twice!

I just installed a 529 and 530 DEI module today, I go directly to the window switch in the drivers door, I did four windowa up and two windows down, no problem. I thick someone did not go the switch itself or they did not follow the direction that come with the modules. I use 529 modules for rear windows on suv the have electric sliding rear windows, able to control up and down with one module.

So I talked to my installer and he says that the modules are already wired to the motors. He's going to take a look monday and hopefully we can get this fixed

So I just need to vent. I dropped off my car at 9 AM this morning to get the freakin window module fixed and my installer tells me it will be ready by the end of the day, I'm at work right now so at 6 my buddy who was supposed to get my car for me calls me to tell me my car's not ready and on top of that my doors are OFF my car sitting on some cardboard. I don't know what the F*** they're doing to my car but it had better be ready tomorrow.

Default Reset

Quick question - How do you reset the windows? I installed the avn2454 nav unit and now my passenger window won't slide down from the driver side button.

Your door panels should be off for them to properly trouble shoot, Is this a chain store or a local shop, let us know the outcome, I hope everything works fine when you get it back. Bill

Page 18 of the owners manual will help you with the instructions you need to reset the power windows. It's a local shop Galaxy autosound in Reseda, CA. I 'm sure they are doing whatever they can to try to figure this out and i'm not mad they took the door panels off, I just didn't think they'd have to do that so it caught me off guard. What I was mad about was that I dropped off the car before the shop even opened and they didn't get it done in the time they quoted me and now they're just telling me they'll call me when it's ready.

I have "Smart Windows" installed in my TC and I have no problems with the auto-window feature....then again, I installed it correctly.
I retired from professional installation back in 1999. I have never needed to remove a customer's doors to install anything (in 9 years) .....especially window modules! This includes installing glass and motors! It's very easy to run wires into the doors and access the motors in a TC. Sounds like you picked some winners!
I hope it all works out for you.

the interuption for the window wires needs to be done as close to the window motor as possible! Not the switch! this is what DEI says to do in cases like this. In retrospect DEI window mods are pieces of ____. I hate them and they hardly ever work correctly. Ive used $10 window mods off of Ebay with better results...

So it's finally fixed. I found out they tried to mockey mouse the job and used 1 window module for both doors instead of using 1 module for each door. When I asked them about why they took the door completely off they said it made the job easier, there aren't any scratches so I don't mind too much.l Anyway thanks for all the help from anyone that read and replied. Take it easy. Pete
