Okay, so I'm going to add the Direct Wire for my Escort 5800 tomorrow.
My only question is: can I tap the power wire for the headunit to power it? That's 12v, right?
Is there a better option?
I want to mount the mute button beneath the HU in the half din slot.
Originally, I was just going to pigtail fuse it to the block in the cabin, but I just assume use the included t-tap and save 7 bucks on a pigtail fuse.

The remote wire has to be constant, othewise the amps that paople run would keep going on and off.
I would wire it to the remote on the HU, that is a good idea i never would have thought of that.

Yea, I was just thinking if I did it to the remote wire, in the event that I get pulled over or whatever, I'd turn the HU off and the radar would shut off too.
I just didn't know if the 12v was constant or just a trickle.
