Default DIY: Change Your Climate Panel Color

Hey everyone I was Really bored so I decided to pull my box apart and change stuff. I wanted to change the color of my AC/ Control *****.

Tools needed: Phillips Screwdriver
Small Flathead Screwdriver
Two Hands
Sharpie (any color that floats your boat)
here it goes..........

Start out by removing the center controll panel by removing the left and right ***** and taking out the screws then pulling from the bottom by the ashtray. Once the panel is removed (be sure to unplug the three conectors). You'll be left with this......
.

The red arrows point to snaps that need to be depressed to remove the main unit. Once removed ......

You'll need to use a small flat head screwdriver to remove the lights(hint: the red arrows are pointing at them). Once out they look like this....

If they dont look like this u messed up. Anyways you'll want to carefully remove the yellow covers. Then color them to suit your fancy. If you colored them red u can put those yellow covers back on them, it doesnt effect the color or brightness. Then put everything back together, and if you chose to do it rec it'll probably look like this......

And the best thing about it all, if you do it and wanna change it back or change the color just put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and clean off the bulb.

Thats it for now. I've got some red vinyl overlays coming from bluebatmobile.com so I'll post pix and what not when I get 'em.

I'm just going to change the A/C button LED from green to amber so it matches the rest of the dash.

I like the way it looks although I am never comfortable with the SHARPIE technique. It's PERMANENT marker. Key word being PERMANENT , and these bulbs don't seem to be easy to replace.

Actually I removed the color easily today. I used blue trying to match my interior lighting. The blue sharpei on Sunday and found it to be too dark, the ***** would be bairly lit. So I took them back out and wiped the bulbs with a wet towlett and the color cam right off the bulb. It didn't come off the plastic housing, but it all came off the bulb. Now they are red.

Sharpie comes off with rubbing alcohol. Really permanent ink stains plastic.

I like how bright the red shines through. I used the bulb rubber cover method and it makes a nice color, but is not very bright.

Just take the bulbs out and put a 6 inch cold cathode of any color in behind every thing!
