I personally would use an inline wire tap with the side marker lights, but I haven't tried putting the LED's behind my mirror yet. Just make sure you use the right resistors for your LED's or you might blow a fuse and/or LED's.

Here's a post from a guy that translated the Japanese instructions that came with the JDM side mirror covers with LED turn signals:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...?p=56761#56761

The applicable part of the instructions reads as follows:

15. Feed the long end of the T-connector wire harness through the back side of the fender and UNDERNEATH the weather strip of the front door. Use the supplied foam tape to secure the wire at the point BENEATH the weather strip.

16. Connect the end of the T-connector wire harness to the connector attached to the LED blinker mirror cover.
I have not tried this yet. Another thread says to remove the fasteners to the plastic fender liner and push the liner out of the way enough to reach the sidemarker wiring.

I think I'm going to try the JDM instructions by going in through the sidemarker hole.

Anyone have experience with tapping into the sidemarker wire?

Yes, I've read most all his posts and seen his pics. Thanks.

You can just tap off the amber in the headlight. It's a few
feel longer of a wire run, but if you plan it out well it should
all be good.
