Default Doing homework on HID retro- need some help

Well im starting to put together a shopping list and compiling info on a hid retro, and want to do it right. I remember maximus saying that a new harness would be good so you dont fry the stock one, so i was looking at this harness...

http://www.xenondepot.com/product.php?product_id=50

....and have 2 questions that I cant seem to find the answer to on HIDplanet university.

1. Do I need 2 of these(one for each ballast) or does one work for both of them.

and

2. Anyone have a wiring diagram for it? I'm not sure what hooks up to what.

Thanks

John

If your talking about the ballasts then you need 1 for each capsule (HID Bulb) so if your puting in two projectors then you need two ballasts. I know theres a diagram on hidplanet but i cant get on it today for some reason i guess it/'s down.[/b]

No, I know i need 1 ballast for each bulb, what I was trying to ask is if I need one or two harnesses shown in the link i provided.

I tried to access hidplanet today, but I guess their site is currently down for maintenance.

Oh my bad. Yeah you should just need that one harness from what it looks like. Good luck on your retro.

That is damn expensive! $55.00 shipped for that is crazy.

I'll sell you 2 relays, crimp connectors, and wire for $10 And I won't charge you $15.00 shipping.

I was just using that link as an example, the reason I wanted to get the wiring schematic/diagram is so that I learn how to make it myself. I just dont know exactly what is involved in an upgraded harness. Once I have a diagram with specifications and parts needed I should be able to put everything together myself. I appreciate the offer though.

An "upgraded harness" takes a "cue" from the stock harness, and tells a relay to turn on and send fused power from your battery directly to the HID ballast.

You will use 4 pins on the relay.

Run a positive wire from the stock harness to pin 85
And a ground wire from the stock harness to pin 86

Run a fused wire (maybe 14 or 16 gauge) to pin 30
Run a wire (14 or 16 gauge) from pin 87 to the positive wire on your ballast.

Ground your ballast.

Solder, crimp, heat shrink, waterproof.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if it wouldnt be better to use a 10 or 12 gauge wire though?

im gonna be using the same harness, only because i comes in the kit im getting with OEM hella ballasts (used on cars such as BMW,MERCEDES,ACURA) and also OEM 4300K philips bulbs...im using these with TSX single xenon projectors...since it comes with the kit for a good price im gonna use this...if your looking to buy everything together instead of searching around ebay...check out the store at xenondepot.com and there is an OEM kit section....pretty good price

good luck
