Dome Light Color Modification!!! 56K BEWARE!!!
Hey everybody, I recently was in autozone getting the bulb cover to do the A/C control color change, when I saw something very similar for the dome light. I bought the package for like 1.56 or something and gave it a shot. And to my surprise, my modification came out very well, I changed the color of the overhead dome light to blue in less than 10 minutes. This is probably the cheapest, time saving mod ever! I have pics to show how I did it.

This is what the package looks like, they have two little cylindrical gel tubes that are open at each end.

Pull off the plastic cover of the dome light (put the **** selector on door, and pry from the left with your finger or a flathead screwdriver)

This is what it looks like without the cover on. There is a metal piece that you push in to free the bulb from the dome light. Make sure that the bulb is relatively cool when you take it out (me being the moron that I am, I almost burnt myself)

As you can see, the gel sleve is longer than the actual bulb, trim it to size with a scizors and push it over the bulb, try to only cover the glass part.

Put the bulb back into the dome light and turn it on.

Put the plastic cover back on and marvel at your accomplishment!!!
It really looks great at night, and unlike the A/C control mod, the light does not become rediculously dim.

the cost of that cover is not worth it I did mine and it looked like crap couldnt see anything in the car when it was turned off.
now had you got the bulb it would be brighter

problem with the bulb was that it was a 10 watt bulb while the stock bulb is 8 watts, i suppose if you could find an 8 watt bulb online somewhere? Anyways I think it looks good for my car, gives me enough light at night!

I love the effort, but here is what I plan on doing (feel free to steal this idea)...
Go to a stage suply store, or perhaps a art store..anyway, get some colored 'gel' (it sort of looks/feels like high grade plastic); it's the stuff that stage folks use to change the color of the lights. Pick out what ever color you like, get a pisec of it, trim it to fit into the light cover, put it in, and then you are done.
The advantage to this, is that stage lighting gel, won't be bothered by the low watts of the dome light, won't fade, (not for a long, long time at least), and does not 'dim' the light, since it's meant to allow light to pass through...
I have done this to cars before (have not done this to my SCIONS yet, doue to my lazy butt), but you have reminded me to do this.
Oh, and it should be cheap to get, this gel.

Now, for a big project, the price may be more, of course...Oh, and the price will depend on the quality of the gel.
I just know, that stage gel works for the dome light mod very well.
Oh , well i guess not, but some people are modificationally challeged like me, I've just never heard of it being done on scionlife, so i took pics so people could see how I did it if they wanted to give it a shot, no harm done, trying to put some ideas out there
Oh yeah, and my real mod is comin in the mail, the strup exhaust!! Woot woot, screw my dome light!!!

ive tried the gel covers; they're nice..better than the blue bulbs because they fade if left on too long; led's are nice, but i didnt think the light output was great
