Default dome light trigger

is there a dome light trigger wire in each door? or if i want to tap into it do i have to run all my wires to under the dash? if there is one, what is the color of it?

if your wanting to get dome light supervision, yoour lights come on when you unlock the car, the wire is a ( - ) trip and is blue located at Left side of Fuse box, in a 6 pin plug, at location pin 7. If your wanting it for Door trigger, it is Orange on the drivers side and blue on the passenger side also a ( - ) trip. Wire are located at the top of fuse box. The driver door is in a 30 pin plug, pin #21. The passenger in a 16 pin plug, pin #14. You must use both wires and diode isolate each.

*** Disclaimer, I assume no responsibility if anyone reading this makes a mistake. Use a DMM to test all wires.

Installerguy.

two wires, one for drivers door only.
the other wire for all other doors (and hatch).

so, no you cant just tap a wire to get each independet door.
you would need to run a wire to each door trigger and diode isolate each switch.

I guess you could put a pin switch or magnetic reed switch at each door to get your lights to come on, might be a lot of work though. But otherwise you would have to diode isolate each extra wire off of the doors pinswitch, like dgHotLava stated. Just make sure you get the diodes facing the right way.

diodes facing the right way and tap your wires off of the switch side.

so there is a wire running from each door and they all meet up and turn on the light through 1 wire...correct?...so i would be able to tap into that and put a diode in and that should allow me to turn on the lights when i open the doors...it would basically act like the dome light was going on

could i wire it like this?
trigger wire-------diode-----------resistor------led-------ground

if not, could somebody show me a diagram of how it needs to be?

im kinda new to this kind of stuff...i know general electronics but i guess this is gettin pretty technical...i just really dont want to have to run wires from all the doors to under the dash...i was trying to keep it as simple as possible...thanks for all the help

i am lost, did you want to have something different happen for each door (open the rear pass. door turns on a rear pass. light...open the driver door and a driver light goes on, but not the rear pass.)????
or did you want the same thing to happen reguardless of what door was opened???

yes...i have some leds that are going to go on the bottom of the doors so when you open the door they turn on and point onto the ground...i only want them to turn on when that particular door is open like you said above...is this possible?

ok, here try this.
stcok
trigger-------------------------------------------------------------------dome light

new
trigger------------------------------------------------------------------dome light
\
..\------|door|---diode+led + resistor---------\
power--|door|--------------------------------/

the trigger is negative so you need to bring power into each door as well as the ground trigger wire for the led's (just run a small guage speakerwire into each door)

i like this feature (my friends bmw has this).
