Default Dynamat - Partial Install

I ordered some Dynamat X-Treme, only to realize I'm going to need much more. I was able to line both front doors, inner & outer shell, as well as the trunk floor with a single layer. I was hoping it would make a noticeable difference, but not that I could tell from my quick drive around the block.

I was curious if anyone else has done a partial install, and noticed a major difference after lining the rear doors, and the floor. I'd like to get some feedback before I order anymore sound deadening.

Thanks!

I have put in 36sq feet so far (front and back doors, hatch the whole floor in theback) It made the stock stereo sound 100 times better and the doors actualy close all the way the first time now. The road noise has faded alot but I still need to do the floor under the driver and pass. seats. i am thinking of doing the roof when I do the head liner. How much did you get the bulk pack of etreme for?

I too purchased the 36 square feet kit. Of the 9 sheets, I have a little over 1 sheet left over. How did you manage to do all 4 doors and the trunk with the kit? Did you do inner/outter shell only? Did you only place it on strategic spots? I fully lined both inner and outter shell of the fronts, and only the trunk area under the spare and "cooler". The positives I've seen so far, is no more rattles when driving, and the doors do feel more solid. Please share your expereinces when you get around to lining the floor. I'll do the same if I beat you to it.

Thanks! Anyone else?

sorry it was to bulk packs so 72sq reet I guess.
I did the whole reer floor and the shells of all the doors with and most of the interior sides of the doors.

I went with Dynamat because I have had it for 3 years.(I was going to put it in my old truck but never got around to it.

I got mine for $150/a pack then and that was a super hook up then

I went with Dynamat because of its trusted reputation, and I didn't do enough research. By research I mean that I didn't realize how much of this stuff you actually need to thoroughly line the xB. I figured I'd pay a premium on a smaller quantity, not realizing I am going to need at least another 72-144 sq. ft., on top of the original purchase of 36 sq. ft. I am considering using an alternate material for the rest of the box.

I think it is about 1-1.5 lbs. per square foot. The box weighed around 24 lbs. from what I can recall.

I can not confirm or deny this statement. However, I believe this may not be true for Dynamat X-Treme. There has been zero smell so far, and it was in the 80's today.

hmm interesting, the cars that I've been near that were dynamatted here in arkansas, in the middle of summer, you could smell the tar from about 10 feet away with the doors/windows all closed

If you got 36 sq ft, and the box weighed 24 lbs, I'm pretty sure that is closer to 2/3 lb per sq ft.

Different deadeners have different weights based on the thickness and material they are made of.

You're right...not sure what was going on with my math when I posted. Thanks for correcting.
