Default EDI 6500's?

I'm not really thrilled with the sound of the stock speakers- seems like they're muddy at low volume and harsh as I turn them up. Certainly not anywhere near the equal of a decent home system...

And, yeh, I've already done the door panels in raammat... and ensolite...

How good are these speakers, and will the stock HU drive them well for normal listening? Leave the stock rear speakers, take 'em out, or put something else in their place?

I'm really new to the whole auto sound realm, having mostly driven beaters where I was just happy if both speakers worked and didn't buzz... I'm tempted by the EDI special price offer... whaddya think?

I most definitely would NOT run 6500s from the HU... you really need an amp for those components... they're 150RMS watts per side... 12-16RMS from a stock HU will give you next to nothing from them... definitely amp them!!!

Really don't sound the greatest off a HU...most speakers won't since they aren't made for low power applications.

OK, so there's no cheap way out-

What's a minimalist amp with speaker level inputs that will drive them decently?

Think budget, low budget...

I just upgraded from the eDi6000s to the 6500s, and WOW! They are freakin' amazing, and I totally recommend them!! I'm amping my 6500s with an eD NINe.4, and the sound is mind blowing!!
