I wasn't about to compromise viewing angle for the sake of the flip-up door, so I had no qualms about cutting into it. Dunno how well this pic shows it, but the door is closed-- it just has a single DIN sized hole cut in the bottom of it. Still opens and close normally, to allow access to the pocket above the HU. Even when the screen is closed, no one has yet noticed that any cutting was done.

 

^^^ that's nice... it kind of defeats the purpose of the door, but that is a clean install
