Default FULL painted dash...*pix*

okay, i know a few of you have had the top half of your dash out and painted it. but has anyone had the bottom half out and painted as well? i have searched but no luck on anybody who has done it yet.

does anybody know something i dont know?

mm. there is someone on here you can get ahold of, im not to sure of his name, but he has a 2-tone xB, its the top PINK and the bottom BLACK... and his entire dash is painted pink.. top to bottom.. so i dont know if you know who im talking about, but if you do., maybe you can search for him, hope this helps...

i was just curious who/how many have decided to try this...i did...here are some pix of it taken apart.









i'll take pix of it painted as i'll be finished with it tomorrow...dunno if i'll get it put on or not we will see.

from the start of it...to pulling it over the steering wheel (it has to come off) it took me right at two hours, but that is basicly cuz i had no idea how/where all the bolts were. its actually fairly easy to do. there is a DIY about it in the tech part for the top i found out (after i took it off lol) and the bottom is just like 6-8 bolts plus your misc. screws for the steering wheel, airbags, stereo and then all your plugs for electrical things. its not really hard, just dont forget where you took it all off of

i should have the final sand and clear done today, not sure if i'll get time to put it back on, but pictures will definetly be taken asap.

I just want to know how to get the steering wheel apart like that cause I want to paint the light grey pieces.

You have to use a torx bit t34 i think and loosen the torx screws one on each side. then pull the airbag off and then unscrew the screw that holds each side in.

nice show us pix of it all done... i want to do my bottom dash piece... i think i might have to now...

i have an 04, do you think the steering wheel cover will come off the same way?

alrighty i got the pix taken..it was still kinda dusty and such so i'll have to take more in the sunlight anyway..but here are some for starters.

those cupholders by the shifter need to be painted now though!

yeah i havn't quite got that far yet...im going to do the center consol and the steering wheel minus the circle where my hands go.....

the top half of the dash is super easy to take off...the bottom half is a little more diffacult becaus eyou have to remove the steering wheele and the the stereo/heat controls. its not too hard. but i woudl not recomend it for the average joe.

yes i painted it myself...i dont remember where i found the link..i think i just searched something like dash and removal and narrowed it to xB only.
