The auction I listed is from a great seller as well. I bought some stuff from him and he was great to combine shipping and FAST getting it here.

How would I connect that wire to the battery?

Whats the difference between 4 and 8 gauge?
So I would just connect that to the metal part of the battery?

8ga... sufficient for most everyone.

4ga (larger wire)... overkill.

I live for overkill.

or you can. use the fuse that was in the cig lighter, take that out and bet a Inline Fuse holder (at AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts), then run alteast 8 gauge wire from battery to power inverter,THEN use the ground wire to Chassis, then rig a switch up to where u want it to be....VUALA.....simple and ez...no hassle..

yeah, sorry, in my haste, I forgot to mention the fuse. You should fuse the power wire within 12-18" inches of the battery.

its good to have the inline fuse holder there. so your not draining unwanted power from the battery , and its safe, so that if somthing goes wrong with the power inverter, only the fuse will bust, not prevent damage to the battery

I dont know if youve done it already... but this is what I think you should do (its what I did)...

Tap into the cigarette lighter below your dash board and rather than connecting the power inverter, just connect a SECOND cig. lighter... then plug the power inverter in... it'll be nice and hidden... and you run absolutely NO chance of running it off your battery since your cig lighters all disconnect when you remove your key from the ignition... also... if you spend a little money on your power inverter (70 bucks) you can get one that has a current sensor, that will turn ITSELF off when it detects more current is being drawn from your car battery than it can recharge... (this never happens, unless you leave the key in position II with the engine off for more than an hour from what Ive counted)... < thats the BEST solution (and easiest, and safest)

Default 8ga? 4ga... what is this... a Rocker?

Just for fun.. I'll tell ya'll that 4ga cable... 4/0 or 4-aught as we call it in the entertainment business... is what we use for feeder to power those huge sound towers at concerts.... so yes... it's WAY overkill for this kind of a job. 8 is bloody huge too.

Think of it this way... most standard extension cords lying around the home for power tools are 14 gauge... so if a cable that small can handle a saw easily....

12 gauge is rated for 2400 watts, 14 for 1800, 16 for about 1200.

I'd be thinking along the lines of 12ga at the biggest... most likely i'd go with 14... maybe even 16 depending on the maximum load the inverter can handle.
