Hardwiring a Power convter to cig. lighter
Hi all,
I have a power converter (single port) that connects via the cig lighter.
When I plug it in this thing is loud as hell...
it looks like this:

my idea:
anyway that i can
1) splice the two wires that connect to the cig lighter
2) and connect them/hard wire them to the power inverter and
3) add a switch that will allow me to turn this on and off...
i am thinking of "hard wiring it" as mentioned above and having it sit under the driver seat. I would put a rocker switch on the panel right next to the aux. input / beneath the parking brake. I am wondering if this is possible and will it work okay... that way, I can leave my laptop power cable plugged into the inverter (under my seat) and just hit the rocker switch when i want to use it... this will definitely zero out some of the noise it makes...
I spend like $60 on the freaking thing and i know I can buy one that you can hard wire that does have an on and off switch... i figure since i have this thing, i may as well use it....
any suggestions? i hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

You could get another wire that plugs into the lighter outlet and slice in a switch to that. It would allow you to turn the converter on and off with the switch. Also, you could solder each wire of the new cord directly to the terminals of the converter then tape up everything so it doesn't accidentally short out.
