Default Helix headlight HID conversion?

I'm just curious to see if anyone has done such a thing. When I start working on my exterior mods I will be doing HID and like the layout of the Helix setup. I'm not sure if I could go with just bulbs and ballasts or if I would need to go full retro kit. The HID kit I will go with is between 4300K and 5500K for the purest white I can get. I've done some research and used the search but cannot find any information on HIDs in an xB yet. If anyone has experience, please let me know.

Cheers

hid lights and xa housings = super glare. wait for a projector or retro.

In my research I found exactly what you are looking for done to an xA complete with a very in depth log "how-to" with tons and tons and tons of information.

Now go mod those lights!

Oh now this is awesome stuff. Check out this information for retros on the xB. Looks like it just requires the Anzo style lighting and the HID housing.

I have HID's in my projectors.
I just bought the HID kit from oznium.com and it worked perfect.

Which projectors are you using and will the stand the extra heat? What about glare?

Glare is damn near non-existant.
I am using the dual projectors with halos.
Heat does not seem to be an issue.
I have had them in for about a month and I have not had one person flash me. They are hella bright but with the cut off line from the projectors they don't blind anybody.

That's quite a bit of glare if you ask me. A set of real HIDs are supposed to have a smooth transition throughout the entire flood rather than concentrated focal points.

Note the smooth flood in this image here:

There's a huge difference.

pretty decent cut off. the xa is a totally different story. the light goes all over the place and it looks like a mess.

Mine would do that too if I had factory headlights.

Check the link I gave earlier on the xA writeup. If you do the headlights up retro style, you will have that super fine cutoff line with an xA.

the only reasons i won't even attempt that mod is i need my car and know that it'll be a time consuming project, and i refuse to be without headlights for a while. and second, i'd probably just F%ck everything up. i'll leave hacking metal to a professional.
