So I hooked up my puddle lights today, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to run them through the dome light so they would come on when the dome light is on. Someone please help?
I haven't started wiring my lights yet, but from what I understand the domelight has two wires going to it. One is constant, one is switched pos, the ground can be found at the domelight if needed.
The blue/yellow is constant where as the red/yellow is switched power. For splicing the wires, I would highly recommend using these bad boys. It will allow for splicing and a spade quick connect shielded terminal. Check them out:

Have you thought about putting them on a timer and using the door lock as the trigger to light them up. This way you could light them with a push of the lock button... food for thought

I tried the wires at the dome light, not so good. One is a constant power, so no matter what the lights would be on. The other wire is a continued ground from the doro jamb switch so the light would never come on. For right now I have the power from the dome light and a ground from the door jamb on the driver door, but that's not what I want at all.
I would'nt even know where to get a timer for this layout, and the real goal is to have the lights come on whenever the dome light is on, that makes for the most convenient and efficient usage.

its a string of usually about 5 lights under the door sill commonly found on VIP style cars for that lux look.
as for your problem, i think a relay from the domes "Door" position to your lights would work. im gonna have to look at it tommorrow and see what ya mean.

I want them switched on and off anytime the dome light comes on. I think I can do it with the "add a fuse", but I'm not quite sure what that is. BTW Thanks for the help all!:D

Here's what I've found, but I don't think it will work because the dome light powr is always ho, and controlled at the dome light.
