Help with led puddle lights?
3 weeks or so until I get to look at the domelight wiring. Until then, how about a motion sensor? Electricity always on, lights only when someone is approaching the car. Or jack with the light socket itself, piggyback a light socket AND some wires INTO the original light socket? May not be the solutions your looking for, but they are solutions.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but if I understand correctly what you're trying to do, I think I *may* have an answer. I hooked up some LED's in each of the "oh ****" handles above each door that function identical to the dome light. They light up if any door or the hatch is opened, if I switch the dome light control to "on" and when I unlock the car. Basically, whenever the dome light is on the LED's are on as well.
If this is what you're looking to do with your puddle lights, you will need to run the positive wire from your puddle lights to one side of the dome light contact and the ground wire to the other side of the dome light contact. By contact, I mean the metal "prongs" that actually hold the dome light bulb in. I originally tapped the LED's into the wires for the dome light, but the LED's did not come on when the dome light control was switched to "on".
I hope this helps and is what you were looking for. If not. oh well I tried ;)
