help please: Parking lights flicker, come on by themselves
Hi everyone.. I haven't poseted in a while. Just recently I have been having issues with my parking lights (dash speedometer light, outside blinkers, back lights NOT headlights) flickering when idling and two times now I have come out to the car to see the parking lights on. I made sure both times that the headlight toggle on the stearing shaft was off. I believe there is something loose or some other short.
I am 3k miles away from being out of warranty so I took to car to a toyota dealership in San Diego. At first they stated they couldn't duplicate the issue and asked me to bring it back when it gets worse but the car does it all the time so I started it up and let it idle for a while and sure enough it happened. So they took the car back and checked it today.
A little while ago I got a call back and they are saying that my warranty is void because of my after market cold cathode lights. The cathodes I have installed are from Randode and he actually installed them himself. I don't really think this is the issue but I guess it could be possible. If so it is probably easily fixable.
So I have a few questions. What can I do to determine that this is not the issue and if it isn't, what should I say to the dealership to get this issue resolved?
Thanks!

Tell them to "explain" EXACTLY how the tubes caused this and what is exactly wrong. There is either a loose connection OR a bad module, relay, switch, whatever. Just because you hook up an aftermarket product, they have to PROVE it caused the problem. If they can't PROVE it, they MUST warranty it. This is not only a good idea, it's a federal LAW.
factory stereo. I am going to disconnect the cathodes and verify it is still doing the same thing and take it back. After I talked to them more today they seemed to accept that. Thanks for the responses.
