High Beam Garage Door Opener Adventure!

High Beam Garage Door Opener Adventure!
Hey folks, I'm trying to figure out the wiring to my High Beam Garage Door Opener mod. I modified the garage door opener using this tutorial. I'm thinking about doing away with the whole relay and just closing the switch circuit so all I need to do is give it power to turn it on. My problem after that would be how to wire it to my high beams. I tested the voltage of the headlight terminal on the passenger side headlight and this is what I come up with:
Lights off = all read 12v
Headlights on = Headlight 12v, High Beam 0v, Ground(?) 0v
High Beams on = Headlight 0v, High Beam 12v, Ground(?) 0v
headlight is black with a yellow stripe?
high beam is black with a white stripe?
ground is just black?
Can someone help me out?
Thanks

All I've gotta say is...
that's awesome!!! You just drive up to your garage door and flash your high beams to open it??? That's the coolest mod ever!!! Wish I could help you with the electrical aspect of it, but I haven't gotten my xA yet...

actually, it's a security gate for my community...but it's the same remote. I just didn't want to confuse anyone right off the bat...

if the xb uses a h4 bulb like the vitz, it was originally wired in reverse.
like you posted everything has current in it, but when i turn on headlights, or highbeams it kills power to one of the signals.
so i got HID's and no more high beam...booo erns!

Yay! I finished my mod. I ended up ditching the relay and just kept the connection closed. The black wire with the yellow stripe is the high beam wire (-12v when on) and the ground is the black wire (no stripe). It works great...but I noticed it draws attention...lol
