How to determine if you ahve a bad capacitor?

Default How to determine if you ahve a bad capacitor?

I have a capacitor that is inline with my amp, meaning battery, capacitor, amp...

I am noticing that when I am playiong the system the capacitor voltage reading goes out, but when it has a full charge it stays on.

For instance, when I am showing my system in say a parking lot with the ignition turned to the auxillary position and okay my system, the capacitor will read 12.8 for about 1 minute and then the light go out as if the capacitor is out of juice... Is that normal or is it a bad cap?

most capacitors displays will shut off after a minute when there is no sufficient current draw. when you crank it up the display should come back on. that's normal.

Ok, thanks. Makes sense now why the lights go out. I thought it was bad.
