Default How do I make the aux button work on my 06 HU in my 05?

Hello all, thanks in advance for help to this question. I recently put the base 06 HU in my Toyota 4Runner. (I love Scions that much!!) Anyhow, I know the 06s come prewired to hook up an mp3 player, but how can I make this feature functional in my 4Runner? Do I just need the PIE adapter used in earlier models? I could not find any info searching but I did find a lot of other useful info.
Thanks
Matt

I have the 06 iPod setup. The aux button only functions when there is a device connected. I am guessing that you need the factory cable-either iPod and/or MP3.

Hmmm, thanks for the info. On your 06 you have a headphone jack type plug in your center console, which I dont have on my 05. I know there has been discussion of getting the iPod connector for the ipod stereo, but all i want to be able to do is play my iPod through my factory system without having to use an FM mod. I dont mind changing the songs on the iPod itself. I think there is another post like this one I just found that might eventually lead me to the answer.....

Yes, there is the 1/8" jack on the console.

It would function just as you want for your iPod. If you did get the necesary cables/wires/connectors/ for the iPod upgrade, it can be controlled from the HU. I have a 3G/20gb that lives under the seat full time by the jack Completely hidden. Keeps me from having to remember to take my 60gb/color home from work every day
and connect it.

As a note, the dock connector signal is a true "line level out" vs the headphone jack which is amplified by the pod. But, with the headphone out, you can balance the output to match your CD/FM sections where the dock signal, IMHO, is a little low. My $.02
