interior dash speakers
for those of you who have full out systems in your xB, have you found any way to fix the slight rattling on the 2 upper dash speakers. ive wrapped them im speaker cloth which i thought would be enough to hold them tight but im still getting vibration out of them. just wondering if anyone has found a good fix for this annoying issue. heres some pics of what i did.
and heres the other side
ignore the crappy elcipse deck........my car got jacked 2 weeks ago and they stole about 6k of my audio equipment. they got all my screens, DVD deck subs and amps. i cried

What size drivers do you have in there? My tweeters never make anything rattle that I have noticed. Larger speakers in this spot would make rattles more likely. Are you totally sure the grilles are making the noise? Is something else loose? Are the screws that hold the dash top tight on the ends installed? If indeed the grilles are making the noise I would cut some thin strips of double stick tape and use them to pad and secure the edges of the grilles between the clips. Oh yeah you would have to remove the fabric to do this well. Good Luck.

My grills rattle up there and your solution actually looks really good...might have to consider doing that myself.
That really sucks about your stuff getting ripped off. I see you got an alarm fob now haha. That deck looks alright for being crappy. I don't know anything about Eclipse though.

i have JL 4 inch speakers in there now powered by a 200 JL amp. as to where i got the speaker cloth i just went to the local fabric store and browsed around. all you need is something that matches your interior texture and is easy to see through when you are looking at it. i guess ill have to keep fudging with materials to get the grills to stop vibrating. maybe some felt patch cloth from home depot or something.

heres one more closeup shot. it only tooke me about 20 mins to do each side. all you need is a glue gun from walmart and the cloth. after taking out the cover just lay it face down on the cloth and cut about a 3/4 inch barrier around the whole edge. then just glue down one side and then the opposite. just work your way around and keep the cloth tight as you go and its really easy. i think materials for this were about $8. not to shabby

re: speaker rattle
I've found from experience with both of our 05 xBs that the dash rattle more often than not is NOT from the speaker but from the plastic cover on the pillar going from the dash to the roof. To test this theory out, the next time you are on a bumpy road, press your hand up against the pillar cover and see if this stops the rattle. I don't know if the rattle source is the same for all xBs but is has been the source for ours.

yellowsubxb,
you are correct..i had the same problem with my '05 a few months after purchasing it new...dealer could not find the problem, i stuck a business card (folded up) on the passenger side dash (where it goes up the pillar to the roof) and voila..zero rattle!
