Interior Lighting
Wel... I tried to post pics, but I couldn't seem to get it to work. So check this out:

I know....it's blue....everyone does blue....but, hey, I like it! Anyway, I thought I needed a little more color than just blue, so I added the red to the AC *****. I have a few more ideas, but money (and the wife!) are an issue....(sigh)

Actually, they're LEDs. It's an LED tube that came as a set. I put the other one in the opening below and aimed them toward the cup holders. Who needs to spend a bunch of money to have illuminated cup holders installed by the dealer?
I left the stock amber lights installed in the oven so when I open my doors and I have the LED on, it glows purple.

I'll get some pictures if you want.
To answer the power question, no I didn't tap into the cig lighter, I ran another line from the ACC in the fuse block and threw a switch on it. I'm considering connecting my interior lighting with a T-tap to the radio illumination line so they come on with my running lights. Any suggestions?
That one took a little brainstorming. I tried the covers...too dark for my taste. I tried a cold cathode inside there...didn't like the inconsistent lighting on the ends. So I decided I needed something that would distribute light brightly and evenly. What I came up with was blue neon rope. Here is what I did....
I found a kit from AutoZone (I seem to be there a lot) that allows you to cut the rope to any length you want. Of course it needed to be one continuous strand, so I took a look behind the control panel and discovered that you can run a continuous line around there. So I broke out my trusty black tape and began to run the neon rope around on the inside of the panel. I made sure that the rope ran behind every place that it would shine through. I even took out the clear plastic pieces that leads light up to the A/C, rear defrost, and emergency flasher buttons, and ran the rope up into each one of those, making sure, of course, that it didn't interfere with the button movement. I used black tape because, once again, I wanted the light to shine only where I put it, and super glue is messy and, well....permanent. I didn't want to take the chance of damaging anything either.
One thing I have to mention....this all needs to be redone again. While working on something else back in there, I accidentally cut the neon rope.... Don't ask me how, cuz I don't even know. I was so ____ed!
Bottom line is, I finally achieved the look that I was going for, and as a plus, the wife loves (loved
) it too! So now I'm back to the stock amber, but the red LEDs are still there.
