Default iPhone users come in.

Im looking to get a 2G iphone to replace my blackberry and iPod nano. My questions are can you still make/receive phone calls when your listening to the iPod? Same goes for text messages.

You can get a call while listening to your ipod tho... it pauses the music and when you hang up the call it picks up where it left off... if thats what you were asking

yes if it pauses the music and rings over the speakers or the phone then goes back to music.

i dont want it to just go to voicemail because i have it pluged into my head unit.

when you plug the iphone into your head unit, you can only listen to music over your speakers, not hear the phone ring, listen to calls..
you music will pause, and the phone will ring, but not over your car speakers.

I have this adapter set up http://www.logjamelectronics.com/toy03auxs.html and my iphone's microphone is still active when I plug in the aux cable into the headphone port. This lets me take and make calls over my speakers (I have to talk a bit louder to have the mic pick up, but it does work).
