i was just looking at the dealer installed accessories and that was the price. Is it only $260 if you buy a 2006 model?

I have a 2005 Scion xB and i don't want to pay $900.

just get the regular deck and use the input jack. only difference is it will not charge your ipod and you have to control your ipod yourself but for a 700-900 savings probably worth it.
You in Ca. i can help you out with a better solution... hit me up or aim me...

For 900$ you could buy:
1.) Top of the line ipod
2.) The ipod-head unit adapter with recharging capabilities and deck control over the ipod.
3.) a bunch of beer and have a block party while listening to your endless amounts of music until the playlist starts over.

Harman Kardon has a solution for the iPod in the car. You won’t need the iPod in view, put it away in the center consol or glove box. All audio controls are accessed from the control stick which is really cool, you then can view the play lists on the dash mounted display. The iPod is charged when connected to the system. MSRP is around $200, nothing hard confirmed yet.
Everything is plug and play, can be installed in less than 1 minute to play or you can hard wire it. Scheduled release is October/November but should have mine in a few weeks for the TC.

Or you can go sign up to be notified when it is released.

it should not be 800... according to "pure pricing" its 260 for the ipod option. i know i have it... its labeled:
AM/FM/CD with iPod capability by pioneer
its only 260...
edit:
after rereading the post... i feel like a dumass... its more then likely that expensive because of the "involved install". ie placement of the cord and what not.

I purchsaed my 2006 Scion XB with the iPod deck that allows you to charge it and control it from the head unit. I paid $260 for that, the single CD changer model. $260 is not a bad price at all when you compare this to buying a new iPod ready head unit, or adding the expensive options out there for aftermarket compatability with these features.

If you own a pre-2006 Scion and buy the head unit over the counter at the old parts department, you are looking at spending around $900. Bottom line - If you are buying an '06, get the upgrade. If you don't have an '06, best of luck to ya!

does that sceen on the dash recognize the iPod screen and transmits everything
I work for Harman Consumer Group which owns JBL, Harman Kardon and Infinity. I have a demo TC for JBL and Toyota, it would make sense that I would have one early.
Plug in the iPod, put it in the glove box or center console and forget about it. It does all iPod functions for music, no photo. It will allow you to select any music list and then scroll through them as you see fit. The only product on the market that offers the ability to scroll through play lists in this price range.
The display has all the iPod screen display as you would expect on the normal iPod display, access menus, adjust font size, etc.
I have to go buy an iPod as I do not own one, I was really impressed with the unit’s ease of installation, features and it is a lot cooler than the normal cradle next to the radio. You can plug in your iPod or if a friend comes along for a ride just plug it in. It will not appeal to all but it is really cool.
