keyless entry activation
Hi,
I have a 2006 Scion xB with a factory/dealer keyless system that has been deactivated by the dealer with a plug of some sort. Is there a way to re-activate the system and get the keyless remote working without paying the dealer 300+ dollars?
Thanks,
Ruth

Why do you suspect the keyless entry system has deactivated by the dealer?
Does the remote work at all?
Is it possible the remote might need a new battery or be reprogrammed to the vehicle?

it was deactivated when i bought the vehicle as a used car so they could potentially make 300+ dollars from me to turn it on. So I don't actually have a remote. I know it is there because I watched them put a little plug in the module, which sits just below and to teh left of the steering wheel. I believe it is connected to the alarm system that they use on the lot.
I do not know about a "plug" that deactivates the system.
However, this article will get you started on reprogramming the remote(s) once you get one. It's very easy and only takes a few minutes. And you certainly don't need a dealer to program the remotes.

I bought my extra remote off eBay from the seller: remotesupermarket
Very happy with the remote that came (it even came with a backup battery) it was cheap ($20 ish) and the shipping was quick.
Hope this helps. Thanks
