Default Keyless Entry Unlock Delay

Hey guys, I'm a new user here with an 06 xA. I cheaped out got the car with none of the available options. Just recently I bought an aftermarket remote keyless entry system(Scytek Astra 50) and had it professionally installed. The remote unlocks instantly but the unlock takes about 3 seconds from the time I push the button to the time it actually unlocks. I know this shouldn't bother me, because I can just unlock the car 3 seconds before I get to it, but it does. They guy at the store told me it was because of the double pulse needed to unlock my car and that any RKE system would do the same thing. Is this true or did i just buy a bad model? Could any of you xA owners could tell me if there is a similar delay in your unlocking?

BTW I did do a search and found that someone had the same problem as me but I would still like to hear your opinions on this matter. thanks in advance

Both the xB and the xA require a "double pulse" to unlock ALL of the doors. Even the standard Scion installed keyless entry system does. (I have one on my xB).

With my Scion installed system the first time you hit the unlock it unlocks only the drivers door, you have to hit it a second time unlock the other doors.

yeah thats how it is on my toyota sienna, my problem is that when I hit the unlock button once it just sits there for a few seconds and then unlocks the all the doors. I have a friend with an xb and his unlocks instantly. sure wish scion would make keyless entry standard for the xa.

That is normal with my aftermarket alarm as well kinda. Mine unlocks the drivers door as soon as you hit unlock...then the unit gets its seocnd pulse and opens the other 3 doors and the gate...yup about 3 seconds or so.

hmm.. so its sounding like I should take it back. What brand of keyless entry are you guys using? I think maybe I'll switch to this http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/DEI-V...oductDetail.do

I think you are confused. The other posts above from aftermarket users state they also have to wait and I stated that with the dealer installed Scion keyless entry to unlock all of the doors you have to hit the unlock twice. Yours is acting the same way as everyone elses aftermarket keyless entry.

Aftermarket = You have to wait three seconds.

Scion brand = You have to hit the unlock twice to unlock all of the doors. (Hitting it once only unlocks the drivers door)

Not so, "TerribleTed" said that his aftermarket kit unlocks the driver’s door instantly and the rest of the doors 3 seconds later. Mine won't unlock ANY doors until 3 seconds have passed.

Although I probably am a little confused, I've just never heard of this problem until now. Live and learn I guess

i understand what you are saying and to answer your question mine is instant... i have a CODEALARM CA-610. i disabled the feature for 2 stage unlocking (hit the unlock button once for the drivers door and 2 times for all doors) so when i hit my unlock button the entire car unlocks as soon as i press the button

I stand corrected, I thought the xB and the xA required a 2 stage pulse to unlock all of the doors.

also SanchezHacker, keep in mind that if youre out to best buy or something and you see a system that you want installed, circuit city can install it for you. you dont have to buy their products for them to install it.

I have the Scion keyless remote and sometimes it wont unlock all doors when I press the unlock button twice. I dont know if its the remote or the receiver, though it bugs since everyone elses, it seems if the press the unlock button twice quickly it has no problem unlock all doors.

Ok you guys, problem solved. I went in today to have the RKE system removed and get my money back and wouldnt you know thats the moment when my unfixable problem becomes fixable. The guy did some calling around and found that there was a wire on the passenger side that needs only one pulse to unlock. so he just ran a wire to that. Now I have instant unlock/lock. I haven't checked to see what wire he connected the system to but if any one would like to know, ill gladly go check.

Thanks again

That's how I had to wire mine and it worked fine for a couple months but now it needs me to hit the unlock button twice to work. I don't understand why it would change.
