LoJack anyone?
Hey everyone
what do you guys and gals think of getting the lojack system installed...
also the jojack security system is only 300 dollars compared to the almost 500 for the scion security system and the lojack does all this:
Intrusion Detection
Audible Warning
Passive and Active Arming
Starter Disabler
Panic Feature
LED Status Indicator
Dome Light Illumination
Valet Mode
Flashing Parking Lights

i was taking to someone the other day who said that lojack works on the same principle as a cell phone. if there are enough towers around no problem, but there are huge spots of no reception. i heard there is a big one in riverside. and if i can figure this out i bet the crooks did along time ago.
nevertheless ill probably get it for the insurance reduction and it couldnt hurt

I got the lojack transponder installed for free (the thing that cops scan for when your car is stolen) from the dealer. The alarm system was another story...Let's just say I got a deal :D The standard alarm is generic...it's the lojack transponder that is $$$.
there is NO monthly fee
the recovery system costs 695 add 300 for early warning and 300 for the alarm that does all the cool stuff
so how do you think the features of the lojack alarm system compares to the features of the scion security????

Had LoJack installed when I bought my xB. You have a thing that you keep on your keyring. If the car moves without this keyring thing, LoJack is activated. You pick five ways to be notified that it is activated : cellphone, pager, landline. email...etc. You then call LoJack to start the process of locating your car if it moves without you. This is the Early Warning LoJack. Without it. you only know your car is gone when you go back to where it was parked and it's gone... which could be hours.
At least you have a chance of catching the little freak that ripped you off. Maybe even meet him up close and real personal like!
Cost a few bucks more, but it's good insurance.

i had lojack early warning installed on my xb also. it came free when i purchased the car. its kind of a bother though because sometiems the early warning activates for no reason, and i keep getting phone call after phone call saying that my car might have been moved. id say jus get a lojack. an alarm just makes noise, and no one really pays attention to them anyway.
I got the LoJack with early warning installed when I got my box too, and I love it...It gives me a good piece of mind when I park it somewhere knowing I can get my investment back should someone jack me...
To avoid any unecessary phone calls with the early warning systems, I'd recommend changing the batteries in the transmitters every three to four months instead of once a year as the manual states...Also, keep the transmitter with your keys while they are in the ignition...Not syaing your not doing all of this already, just offering some friendly advice is all :D
Oh yeah and if you don't alreayd have it, ge tthe GAP coverage alongside the LoJack too...Trust me, it's only 500 dollars and well worth it in the end should someone steal your ride :D

I wish it were free with leases. Your dealer was nice enough to get it for you at no charge somehow, but there is no LoJack clause in the Toyota Lease. I'd check your paperwork. But it makes sense to have it. The guy form LoJack came by the other day with a car with lojack and a chase vehicle. He hid then we hunt him down. Well I guess the police can use his car to calibrate their equipment because there was on helicopter and 2 cruisers that beat us to his car. I was impressed he only had the LoJack on for 15 minutes. It works off of Police Band frequencies, and he was in a 3 story Garage. When you report your car stolen they activate the unit, and then every LoJack finder unit in America that your car is near can find it (the towaer only activate the unit). Border Patrol, Customs, and Coast Guard, and of course the Police in most major metropolitain areas have it. They ususally find the car within a few hours with less than $500 in damage. Some insurance companies offer a 33% discount if you have it. It is that effective.
There is a good presentation on LoJack.com: http://www.lojack.com/lojackpres/
I was told that all leases through toyota came with it, and they installed mine the day after I bought the box

I guess I am just one of the lucky ones then...I checked through my paperwork with a finetooth comb before i signed over for delivery, and theres no charges at all anywhere for my Lo/Jack installation or service fees
You know what though, I would still gladly pay for it anyway...It's definitely worth it, and can really save your car should it get stolen, and I for one have a good piece of mind leaving my box parked anywhere
