Default Mood lighting....

Is it possible to put a Potentiometer (Dimmer) on Cold cathodes and LED's ?

If not both, then maybe individually... I am preparing to install the lights and all, just want to get all of these options figured out before i do it so i dont have to re-do it 20 times.

Thanks,
BCM

you should be able to. . .. won't hurt them, that's for sure.

No, you can't do that with LED's. They have a power threshold...after that they're on. If you use a potentiometer, they'll just work until you turn it too low, then they won't.

LED intensity is done with something called pulse width modulation...basically you flicker the thing on and off at different rates, and due to the speed it appears at different dimmer levels.

You won't hurt anything with your suggestion, but it most definitely won't do what you intend (if it's an LED).

then why do simple electronic devices use an LED to indicate battery strength?
