looks great! I cannot wait to get started on mine. Im still waiting for my sub to come in. Im doing the same thing but on the other side (i always have to be different) but im remaking the entire panel so that way the sub will sit completely flush with the stock trunk

Default the whole nine yeards

What's the breakdown of your job, cost, materials, the process steps, tools, the whole nine yards! I'm wanting to create or have some create and enclosure for two 12" subs, one on each side of the vehicle

i noticed you put silicone around the sub in the back ... what if the sub blows out ... how will you ever re-place it ?

first off nice box im experimenting with fiber glass for the first time ever in my brand new tc lol hope i dont mess any thing up to bad

2nd rol the silicone dries like a rubber gasket almost once its dry you put the sub on and its makes it air tight but can easly be taken off

we used to do the same thing till we found a bunch of scraps of dynomat and now we just use thughs scraps or we buy sound stream subs lol they have built on ruber gaskets (not to mention tripple stacked magnets and dual 1 ohm voice coils made of 18gauge wire well the TARANTULA that is but as cheap as we get them for localy why not get some ) sound stream

wow that turned in to a rambel about sound stream sorry lol

^^damn 2000 dollars? u crazy? they're rippin ya..

beautiful work btw, love the FG job. i have a corolla enclosure that i helped build.. my first experience with fiberglass. carpeted as well..

and to those of you who think it should have been painted lol... you're looking at another week of just bondo-ing and sanding to get it smooth enough for painting.

+1 But not much you can really do if you can't do it yourself... Many places are charging an arm and a leg just to build custom enclosures now. Still, for 2000 dollars, anyone who doesn't know how to build a box or know how to fiberglass should learn quickly before forking out that much cash for a sub to sit in your vehicle. Hell, for 2000 dollars, I can have (2) 12" speakers in the back, plus amps, and still have enough money to throw into a 20"+ LCD TV, headrest monitors, visor monitors, lighting on the inside, and not to mention, just like McDonalds, I'd get some change back...

True to an untrue extent. Some people who don't use bondo and sandpaper everyday of their lives it would take a week to smooth it out, but that little of an enclosure would take a day at the most to smooth out and paint. And by that, any experienced body man can have it sanded down, bondo'd, sand the bondo smooth, primered, sand the primer smooth, and then be ready to paint. Paint it. Clear it. Next day its dry and ready to throw in... If it takes any one a week to do that job, then its sad to say that people fix wrecked cars in quicker time than it takes you to smooth out a speaker enclosure.

Just my .02

WHOOPS *EDIT*
PS - Good job on the enclosure. Looks good.

That still is steep.. Especially, if you already have the speakers.. What kind of amp and deck are you buying? Have you checked the same items on Ebay? Or will the shop not install items bought from somewhere else? Cause nothing you have mentioned has really any high value, especially not $2000 worth.

Also, how many subs are you running? It may not be the best route to get a 4 channel amp. Most 4 channels are overly priced from the dealer and don't offer much watts to each channel. Your best bet for multiple speakers would to go with smaller mono amps and putting an amp on each speaker.

Seriously, you can save yourself a ton of money if you search around first. Dealers will rape your wallet if you're not careful. And from the sounds of this deal, it sounds more like your wallets being molested. No offense, but I'm just trying to let you know that there would be an easier way to probably get this done.

If you have time, make a list of everything the dealer said they would do and install, including brand names and models of each thing and I'll help you out if you want to go a cheaper route.
