Default LED wiring question. help

Hello again everybody. Ddoing some interior LED stuff and wanted to get some input. I have 4 single leds and 2- 4" inch cathodes. I already have the under dash cathodes that the dealer put in. I wanted to know if I can hook up those 4 leds, and the two cathodes to the existing ones so i can power all these lights with the one switch that's already there. Can I do this? Why or why not? will anything blow? help!

--->Thanks peeps<--

Yes it will work.

Why: Because you are tapping into the 12 volt power and ground that is already under there.

Like was already stated...yes. But also remember, the dealer ones are not cathodes, they are LED's with clear tubes to channel the light.

are your LED's pre-resistored? pre wired for 12V?

Default ok well...

does it make a difference that they are LED's? i just want to make sure that tapping the 4 leds, and two 4 inch cathodes (that are for sure cathodes), will not blow a fuse or someting like that. I'm literally gonna get all the positives and make them one wire and do the same for the negs. And just splice into the switch the dealer put in for the under dash lights that are there. I just would hate to have something blow, so i want to make sure it's ok to do that.

Thanks guys please let me know.

You actually do have cathodes. Yea, the LED's will work just fine. Just use quick connects (pick them up at any auto parts store for a few dollars) and tap on to the power source for the cathode box power (not the cathode wiring) and the LED's will come on when the cathodes come on.

Default Thank you Scion Dad

OK, but then can i power the box with cathodes by tapping into the under dash leds the dealer put in? I just want them all to work with the one switch.

-Thanks

You could have gone with Oznium LEDs instead of those pre-wired ones for $2.99, wired them up yourself and saved a bunch of money

You shouldn't have any problems doing this hook up. I didn't do an amperage check when I did my cathodes and Led's, but I would imagine they don't draw anything even close to the 1 amp let alone the 15 amps it would take to blow the fuse. Good luck on the install, and remember to test things as often as you can durring the instal, it will save you a lot of headaches later if something doesn't work.

Default Thanks guys...

Much appreciated for all your opinions. So what do you guys think about these 4 inch cathodes? I was thinking of putting one under the ashtray so it shines out of that last opening and may jimmy rigging the other into my oven. I already replaced the bulb in there to a blue led cluster so it rocks when i open the doors but i was thinking of sneaking the other 4 incher in there so it could also have light when the doors are shut. Where do you guys think i should put em? I was gonna put one led in each center vent, and the other two leds in my cup holder area. I'd do the other two vent on the outer edges but it looks like a _____! Any ideas peeps?
